About Coach Kotok

Coach Margarita "Margo" Kotok

I began my tennis journey at the age of 7.  During my junior career, I participated in nearly 200 USTA tournaments both regionally and nationally, consistently ranking top 10 in the eastern region. By the time I turned 16, I was teaching lessons at the Tennis Club of Rochester in Pittsford, NY.

After graduating from Gananda High School in 2013, I pursued Division I tennis at the University at Buffalo. In 2017, I graduated with my bachelors degree while simultaneously working as a tennis professional at Miller Tennis Center (Williamsville, NY).  During my final year at Buffalo, I served as team captain and successfully led my team to win their first conference tournament championship in 10 years. As of 2023, I rank third in school history for doubles wins and 14th for singles.

In the fall of 2017, I began my role of Assistant Tennis Coach for both the men's and women's teams at the University of Rochester. Having just completed my sixth year at U of R, I have coached seven All-UAA honorees and an NCAA All-American. I was awarded ITA Northeast Region Men's Assistant Coach of the Year following the 2018-19 season, in which the team had the second best start to a season in school history.

Experiencing the competitive atmosphere of college tennis as a player and witnessing the impact of on-court coaching solidified my aspiration to pursue a career in coaching at the collegiate level. But, it was my experience as a coach that sparked my passion for helping aspiring junior players fulfill their dreams of becoming collegiate athletes. Throughout my coaching journey, I have worked with players of skill levels ranging from beginners to high-performance athletes and spanning a wide age range from 4 to 75 years old.

My coaching philosophy revolves around individualized instruction, recognizing that each player has unique strengths, weaknesses, and learning styles. I tailor my approach to suit your specific needs, focusing on refining your technique, enhancing your strategic thinking, and building your confidence on the court. With the right mindset and training, anyone can succeed on the tennis court. So if you want to take your tennis game to the next level, let's connect - I look forward to helping you become the best player you can be!
